Facebook Canada is giving a leg up to small businesses looking to further their marketing initiatives, who are located in the Greater Toronto Area. As part of this program, Facebook will pair teams from 10 of Canada's top media agencies with one of Toronto's local businesses. In six weeks time, the objective is to have the business strategizing and utilizing Facebook's marketing campaigns on a regular business.
Teaching business owners how to become more media-savvy is a major theme of the initiative. Research shows that older business people are less likely to be computer literate than the younger generation, who has been exposed to social media technology for the better half of, possibly, their lives.
The project is called Grand for Good, and its a unique opportunity for business owners to take advantage of a boost in sales that may not otherwise exist for them this season. To be eligible to participate, local businesses must:
1. Be locally based
2. Serve customers of all ages
3. Be independent and non-franchised
4. Have fewer than 300 likes on their Facebook page
Let the games begin!
